Vietnamese franchise chains have crossed the border — set against markets with thousands of franchise brands each, the whitespace is enormous.
South Korea registers 12,400+ franchise brands and the US around 9,000; Brazil 3,000; France 2,000+. Vietnam's 13 internationalised chains are the first wave — and first-movers define categories.

Country figures verified against official national franchise associations (IFA · BFA · CFA · FCA · FFF · DFV · ABF · JFA · KFA · FAI · CCFA · PFA) as of 2026-06-09; global market data from Technavio. The Vietnam figure counts 13 named Vietnamese-headquartered franchise chains with confirmed international operations (their ~125 international stores are a Go Global estimate); export-only brands, industrial corporates and diaspora-founded chains are excluded.

Going global, answered.

The questions Vietnamese franchisors ask us most — answered clearly for you and for the search engines and AI assistants your future partners use.

A brand is ready when it has proven unit economics (consistently profitable locations), documented and replicable systems, strong brand equity in its home market, and at least 2–3 years of operational history. The Go Global Readiness Assessment helps you benchmark all these dimensions objectively before you invest in international development.
A master franchise agreement grants a partner the rights to develop your brand within a defined territory. They recruit and support sub-franchisees on your behalf, scaling your presence far faster than direct ownership. It's the preferred model for cross-border expansion because it leverages local knowledge, capital and relationships while you retain brand control.
At a minimum, international development requires: legal documentation (franchise disclosure, master agreement, IP registration) typically USD 15,000–40,000; a franchise operations manual and training programme; and a dedicated business development function. The WFA × Go Global programme is designed to minimise these costs through shared infrastructure, standardised templates, and access to our global investor network.
Absolutely — and they are. Vietnamese cuisine is one of the fastest-growing food categories globally, and several Vietnamese brands have already established master franchise agreements in Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The key success factors are consistent product quality, a story that travels, and the right local partner.
The WFA × Go Global collaboration is the first structured programme linking WFA's global network of 800+ franchise professionals and investors with Go Global's expertise in Southeast Asian brand development. For brands, this means access to qualified master franchisee candidates, a curated curriculum, AI-powered tools, and hands-on advisory support — all through a single hub.
Start by completing the Go Global Readiness Assessment. Brands that meet the threshold are eligible to be featured in the WFA × Go Global investor showcase — distributed to WFA's network of qualified master franchise investors across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe. Submit your Feature Registration on this page, and a consultant will be in touch within 5 business days.
